On 15 November Anthony McNerney of Gurr Johns was quoted in a marketwatch.com article on the New York art market season.

“McNerney at Gurr Johns urged caution in correlating the state of the art market with auction house activity. He said: “While the big sale weeks in New York generate the most buzz, they are not really representative of the wider art market. Over the past few years, demand has been consistently strong as art has become a desirable asset, driven in particular by new buyers and ‘cheap money’.”

Yet he added: “This time around [at auction] there are a lot of more choice consignments including single owner collections and works that haven’t been on the market for decades.””
