Rufus Bird

Rufus is the principal specialist for Heritage Collections and Decorative art at Gurr Johns, providing leading expertise to international clients across the group, and advising on acquisitions, valuations, conservation, and museum relations.
Rufus brings 25 years’ experience as a leading specialist in the area. Following a 13-year career in the Decorative art department at Christie’s, he was appointed Deputy Surveyor of the Queen’s Works of Art in 2010 and served as Surveyor of the Queen’s Works of Art from 2018 to 2021. Most recently Rufus has acted as a consultant on Furniture and Historic Interiors to the Royal Collection Trust.
