It was announced on Monday 2 October that Gurr Johns had acquired Dreweatts and Bloomsbury. A news report from The Art Newspaper can be seen here.

Harry Smith, Chairman of Gurr Johns said: “We’re very pleased to have taken the opportunity to acquire Dreweatts and Bloomsbury, and we look forward to seeing its future growth and success under the leadership of George Bailey. The 21st century auction market continues to evolve; while there’s an increasingly intense focus on the very highest levels, where we operate as advisers and valuers, we’ve also observed huge opportunities at lower levels, particularly since the closure of Christie’s South Kensington. We believe that George and his team are perfectly placed to take advantage of these opportunities, and we look forward to seeing him develop a strategy that grows Dreweatts into a leading position in the regional market.
